I’ll be honest, from what I remember of Nusa Dua was a strip of hotels and private beach areas. The best way to experience Nusa Dua is to stay in a luxury Balinese style hotel. I didn’t mean for this to basically be a hotel review, but I wanted to share my experience in Nusa Dua. When you ask someone how to get to the Nusa Dua Beach, they will send you to a really crappy sand spot in between luxury hotels with stacks and stacks of jet skis, snorkel huts, and banana boats. You won’t find strips of public lounge chairs like the Mediterranean, so the only way to truly enjoy Nusa Dua is by a luxury hotel on the beach.
Review of the Grand Hotel Nikko
The grounds and ocean views of the Grand Nikko were stunning. I had a very relaxing time and the staff was wonderful – it’s definitely a 5 star service. We had breakfast buffet everyday, with lots of American and Balinese options. If you want to stay for dinner at the hotel, they offer a buffet dinner with Balinese show and totally recommend it if you feel like staying in to relax. The pool and beach area was really the highlight of our stay. What’s better than baking under the sun on a lounge chair.
Hiring a driver
The one thing that was a little harder at the Hotel Nikko was to negotiate taxi rates. Since you’re staying in a nice hotel, taxi drivers will charge up at almost 10 times the cost! Rather than always battling with taxi rates with different drivers, we kept the same taxi driver throughout our entire Bali stay. That way you can negotiate prices beforehand and feel comfortable with the same driver and car with air-conditioning 🙂
