Despited difficulties for US travelers, citizens have still found ways to visit Cuba via Mexico. In the past 2 years, Cuba’s tourism has garnered a lot of attention in the media. Celebrities are constantly being spotted visiting the country and even fashion mogul Karl Lagerfeld transformed Havana to re-create what the city used to look like in the 1960s for Chanel’s 2017 Resort Collection fashion show. The colorful and raw cultural vibe is what draws me to this magical place and I hope to one day travel there.
I got a chance to visit Cuba next year for a trip with my husbands family. We were planning a family reunion to celebrate his grandparents 50th wedding anniversary. And of course, with bad timing, we can’t go due to warning signs of Zika Virus taking over Latin America. My husband and I plan for a child soon and people are advising we shouldn’t take the risk just for a week of fun in the tropics. I was so so sad, but it’s for the best. What do you guys think?
Other than that, I was fortunate enough to get a small taste right in my own home. My bridesmaids, friends and family threw an amazing Cuban inspired production just for my bridal shower. Everywhere I turned, I was in awe by the meticulous detail they created for me. I was in shock by all the talent that surfaced from the party. From the stunning floral decor to the creative DIY flower crown station, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. They truly made it a dream come true for me.
Everything was DIY and one of my girlfriends even showed up with her husbands 1960s Chevy Impala!!! Talk about a production!!! Everything really blew my mind! I can’t thank them enough for such creativity. I’m so forever grateful 🙂
